It all started in 1923. A young and promising tennis player of just 19, René Lacoste, loves a challenge. He is promised a special crocodile leather suitcase into which he has thrown his crush if he wins the upcoming match.

He doesn't.

On the other hand, he has a determination like a crocodile on the field, which gives a journalist reason to give him this particular nickname. The crocodile takes shape in 1927 thanks to designer Robert George. Not long after, René Lacoste gets the crocodile embroidered in his blazers, after which the polo sees the light of day a few years later.

It will be the starting point for what Lacoste is to this day. Because with the crocodile placed above the heart, they become the first brand to have a visible logo on clothing.
