Cleaning gold jewelery - this is how you do it
Gold jewelery is relatively easy to care for as long as you take your precautions and remove the jewelery when cleaning, showering and generally being active. Jewelery made of pure gold does not oxidize and therefore becomes only slightly dull over time. But you can easily do something about that with a little lukewarm water and a soft cleaning cloth. Feel free to also use a polishing agent so that you get the shine back completely. However, be careful with pearls and precious stones so that they do not get scratched by the polishing agent.
It is a little different with gold-plated jewellery, which you also find at Viclara. Because under the coating you will find sterling silver, which also oxidizes and can therefore discolour the jewellery. Feel free to use lukewarm water and a soft cleaning cloth - but do not clean the jewelery too often.
The gold coating can easily wear off, which is why it is important not to use polishing agents. If the luster has faded, you can always go to a jeweler who can help you. Should the gilding be wearing off, you can also have it re-gilded when you visit us or another goldsmith.
