It all started in 1923. A young and promising tennis player of just 19 years old, René Lacoste, loves a challenge. He is promised a special crocodile-leather suitcase, on which he has thrown his love, if he wins the upcoming match.

He doesn't.

On the other hand, he has the determination of a crocodile on the field, which gives a journalist reason to give him this nickname. The crocodile takes shape in 1927 thanks to designer Robert George. Not long after, René Lacoste has the crocodile embroidered on his blazers, after which the polo shirt sees the light of day a few years later.

This would be the starting point for what Lacoste is today. With the crocodile placed above the heart, they would become the first brand to have a visible logo on clothing.

Today, Lacoste is much more than polos and blazers. The brand has now also thrown its love into beautiful and classic watch design.
